About

The Ocelot Bandana is indirectly inspired by the character Revolver Ocelot from the video game series Metal Gear Solid. I’ve had the idea of a triangular cowl rolling around in my head for several months and I envisioned it in a dark rusty red.  I casually mentioned this detail to my husband and he noted the fact that one of my favorite game characters always wears a red scarf.  While this design doesn’t look like any of Ocelot’s scarves, it has a Western appeal that reminds me of him.  I can imagine wearing it on the range with my cowboy boots doing a little target practice with my own revolver.

This cowl features short-row shaping for a better fit and to create a little flair where it buttons down.  I used German short rows, but you can use whatever method you are most comfortable with. Keep in mind if you wrap and turn, you will need to stop one stitch BEFORE the point where the pattern says to turn your work in order to create the wrap.

Other techniques involved include provisional cast on, button holes, I-cord bind off, and attached I-cord.
